Question: How do you become an engineer and is it hard?

First of all, there are loads of different types of engineers each with their own requirements and different paths. You can start off by doing science subjects in A-Levels (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, etc.) or BTEC and then apply for university to do an engineering degree. You could instead do an apprenticeship (if you’re not a big fan of full time education) which is a combination of practical work and a bit of studying. Apart from education, get involved in as many science-related extra curricular stuff as possible. That’ll help you find out what you like and what you don’t like. This could be a trip to the Science Museum, visiting a relative’s office (if they’re an engineer), signing up to after school science clubs, etc.
Some people do think that becoming an engineer is hard but it isn’t really, it just requires some hard work, passion and dedication. If you really want to become an engineer, you’ll get there eventually.
