The Millisecond Zone student winner is…

Lily-May, congratulations! During every event we ask the engineers and moderators to nominate their top student — one who’s made the most of the event, shown enthusiasm and asked some really great questions. Lily-May from Ormiston Park was nominated by engineers for their enthusiasm in the live chat, and their ASK questions which included “If you can choose any new project to research what would you choose?” and “When you first started was you worried and nervous?” As the student winner, Lily-May will receive a certificate and a gift voucher. Well done to Lily-May, and to everyone who took part. There were so many interesting questions, and comments, but there could only be one winner in each zone. PS: YOU now have the power to say which scientists and engineers take part next time — click here to be the judge.

Hi everyone, it has been an amazing experience to chat with so many of you around the country. There were loads of great questions and plenty of good banter too which made it all the more fun. I’m glad so many of you are curious about a career in engineering because that’s the first requirement – stay curious about the world around you and keep asking “why?” and “how?”. I’m thrilled to have won the Millisecond Zone and I have already engaged with a local school to see how I can for some engineering into their curriculum this winter, robo-santa perhaps? Best of luck to you all, it’s been a blast! Engineers! If you’d like the chance to win funding for your own public engagement … Continue reading
